We've got a lot of fun letter blend ideas for the /sl/ blend! Try some of these crafts or activities to reinforce the /sl/ sound.
Slap the Blends Game
This is a low-prep but highly engaging game! Start by cutting multiple handprints out of cardstock—trace your little one’s hands for added engagement. Then add your targeted letter blends. We focused on bl, cl, and sl. After sticking the letter blend hands to a wall or laying them flat on a table, let your child “slap” the letters! As they slap each hand, encourage them to say the letter blend they hit. Or call out a letter blend and see if they can find and “slap” the corresponding hand!
ABC See, Hear, Do 2 Sloth Craft
Make this adorable sloth craft, inspired by the ABC See, Hear, Do 2 book! And don’t forget to tag or DM us your amazing creations!
Kids love slime—probably more than their parents! But for the /sl/ blend, slime makes the perfect craft! There are tons of ways to make slime (just ask Google). We opted for the easiest recipe of all—a slime kit! But no matter what you choose, slime is sure to be a fun way to practice the /sl/ blend!
Ever tried making a sloth snack? We sure hadn’t, and we quickly realized it wasn’t as easy as we’d hoped! Feel free to use what we finally came up with, or figure out your own sloth snack! We’d love to see your creations! For ours, we spread Nutella on a little more than half a cut bagel, and we spread cream cheese on the rest. Then we sprinkled chocolate sprinkles on the Nutella. We added little smudges of peanut butter where the eyes would go, and lastly, we added chocolate chips for the eyes, nose, and smile! Voila!
